Dr. Jeffrey Sanderson M.D., FAAPMR, Medical Director

Dr Sanderson has over 20 years of experience in outpatient and inpatient hospital PM&R patient care. He has been the Medical Director at Summa Rehab Hospital since its opening in 2012. He now exclusively devotes his time to providing inpatient medical care for his patients and is passionate about helping them achieve their optimal functional independence and quality of life.

A lifelong Ohio native, Dr. Sanderson grew up in Northeast Ohio and completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Cincinnati. While in undergraduate studies, he also became an EMT on a life squad to help prepare him for his ultimate goal of becoming a physician. He is a proud Buckeye, as he graduated from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr Sanderson completed a year Preliminary Internal Medicine Internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital Ohio Health and stayed at OSU for his subsequent 3 year residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. He is board certified in PM&R and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation.

Dr Sanderson resides in the Akron area with his wife and is most proud of his 3 children. He enjoys many outdoor activities and most avidly loves skiing.

Dr. Brandon Weeks, MD., Associate Medical Director

Brandon D. Weeks M.D. is a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Doctor at Summa Rehabilitation Hospital. He is also currently Medical Staff President and Associate Medical Director. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of adult neuromuscular disorders, their impact on a patient’s life, and recovery/improvement of quality of life. Dr. Weeks also served as Medical Director of Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital and ran their Electromyography/Nerve Conduction Study (EMG/NCS) lab from 2017 until early 2022. Prior to that, he was in private practice in the Akron area where he was a PM&R medical staff member at Summa Rehabilitation Hospital, Edwin Shaw Rehabilitation Hospital, and covered the EMG/NCS lab at Akron General Hospital.

He is a member of AAPMR and maintains his board certification with ABPMR.

Dr. Weeks grew up locally in Kent, Ohio. He completed his medical school training at NEOUCOM (now NEOMED) in Rootstown, Ohio in 2008. He then went on to complete an intern year and residency training at The Ohio State University in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2012.

Dr. Weeks enjoys spending time with his family, the outdoors, and biking.

Beth Rohrer, Director of Compliance

30 years of nursing experience including acute care, home care and 18 years in quality, risk and patient safety.

Earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Physiology before returning it school to obtain a Bachelors in Nursing for the University of Akron. Obtained MSN in Administration and Leadership in 2017

Was born and lived in northeast Ohio my entire life. Have two amazing kids and lives with her dog. Enjoys spending time outside and traveling.

Derek Steele, PT, DPT, NCS, Director of Therapy Operations

Received his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from The University of Toledo in 2010 and then Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Ohio University in 2013. Since graduating PT school Derek has been a staff physical therapist at Summa Rehab Hospital. He previously was the Summa Rehab Outpatient Lead therapist and then assumed the Director of Therapy Operations in 2022. He is passionate about treating patients with neurological conditions specifically using high intensity motor control and gait training with a special focus on gait analysis and recovery of gait with patients with stroke.

Other passions and accomplishments include program development, academic lab teaching and research article reviews. Derek has been a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Neurology Physical Therapy since 2016 by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. In addition, he holds certifications in EksoNR (Level II), LSVT BIG, Mackenzie Part A as well as an OPTA Clinical Instructor. His awards and honors include Summa Rehab Hospital employee of the month January 2014/August 2023, Summa Rehab Hospital Employee of the Year in 2018 as well as OPTA Clinical Instructor of the Year 2019. He is proud to be a part of Summa Rehab Hospital and is committed to providing northeast Ohio with quality patient care services.

Derek’s other hobbies include spending time with his wife of 9 years and their 3 children along with 2 puppies and 12 chickens. He leads a family life of faith and enjoys packing up the truck and taking his family on a good road trip to the mountains or beach. He is also an avid outdoorsman and can often be found hiking, hunting, or fishing in the Appalachian Mountain ranges of the east or the Rocky Mountain ranges of the west.”

Sharon Souliere, BSN, RN, CCM, Director of Patient Outcomes

Licensed as a RN since 1981 in the state of Ohio. Obtained BSN from Walsh University- Canton, Ohio 1991. Certified in Case Management since 2017.

Initially worked in acute hospital setting at Timken Mercy Hospital in Canton, Ohio- 1981-1991. Worked Medical-Surgical units, Acute Rehabilitation as charge nurse, and Oncology unit.

1991-1997- Worked VNS-Hospice – as RN, in direct patient care for 4 yrs. Developed and managed the admissions team, while taking on the role as hospital and community Liaison. Developed the 1st Hospice care program in collaboration with Skilled nursing facilities in Stark County, Ohio in 1995. Provided Hospice education, and pain management education to the skilled facilities. Started with 6 facilities, grew within 1 year to 12 facilities able to provide care and support to hospice patients throughout the community.

1997-2000- Case manager – on a 36 bed, medical unit, in an acute care hospital, taking care of discharge plans and utilization reviews.

2000-2007- Worked at Summa Care Insurance company as a case manager and utilization review nurse for admissions and continued stays to skilled nursing, rehabilitation and LTAC facilities. Worked with skilled nursing facilities in the Summa Care network, on-sight to attend conferences, meet with clients and along with the facility, plan safe discharges to home, while assessing needs for continued stay.

2007-2017- Manager of Case Management and Utilization review at Summa Western Reserve Hospital. Responsible for utilization review, Commercial plans, Medicare/Medicaid programs-Including all audits and appeals. Managed team of 12 for Discharge plans and utilization review.

2017- present – Director of Patient Outcomes at Summa Rehab Hospital.

Brian J. McNeeley, PharmD, BCPS, Director of Pharmacy

Brian joined Summa Rehab Hospital in 2012, just a few months after the hospital’s opening. He has more than 25 years of combined pharmacy and management experience. As Director of Pharmacy, Brian loves talking to patients about their medications and guiding his department to work with the physician team to assure medication regimens are optimized to best get patients back home.

Brian began his training at the University of Toledo as a pre-med undergrad. He left the medical field and pursued a career in real estate, where he owned and managed apartment buildings in the Cleveland area. Always feeling the call to help people, he returned to healthcare and completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Northeastern Ohio Medical College. He then completed a residency in pharmacy practice at Summa Health – Akron City Hospital.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife following their 3 daughters’ sporting events and robotics competitions. Having a lifelong interest in construction, Brian and his dad built the home where his family now resides.

Dan Davis, Director of Pharmacy Operations

Dan is passionate about the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Dan has been in the pharmacy field for more than 17 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of Wyoming in Laramie, Wyo., followed by a doctorate in pharmacy from the University of Wyoming in 2003.

Dan serves as a pharmacy preceptor for the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy, as well as adjunct faculty for the School of Pharmacy for a three-year term.

Carla Dyer, Director of Human Resources

Carla Dyer currently holds the position of Director of Human Resources for Summa Rehab Hospital in Akron, Ohio. She brings over 30 years of Human Resources experience to this role. As the Director of Human Resources, she provides services to the Management and staff at Summa Rehab Hospital. She is involved with policy administration, talent acquisition, leadership coaching and employee relations.

She developed her love for Human Resources when she started her career as a Human Resources Coordinator. That work experience piqued her interest in the other areas of Human Resources. Over her career history, she’s held positions as a Benefits Specialist, Human Resources Manager and Global Human Resources Director. She earned her Associate’s Degree from The University of Akron and her Bachelors of Art Degree from Malone College; both degrees are in Business Management. She has also held PHR and SPHR certifications from the Society of Human Resources.

Carla and her husband reside in the Copley, Ohio area. In her spare time Carla enjoys reading, traveling, watching historical documentaries and classic movies, cooking, walking her beloved fur baby, Lexi, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Ambreona Thomas, Medical Director

Dr. Thomas is an independent physiatrist with experience in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation medicine. She completed her medical education at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. She then completed an internship in Internal Medicine in Florida before going on to complete her formal residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at Sinai Hospital in Maryland. 

Dr. Thomas is passionate about rehabilitation care and helping patients restore function and have good quality of life. She enjoys working with all populations and looks forward to serving rehab patients in the Lexington and surrounding areas

Nancy Martin, Director of Therapy

Nancy K Martin, OTR/L, CHT, MBA hails from North Carolina and brings more than 25 years’ experience in business and healthcare to Lexington Regional Rehabilitation Hospital. Her passion for the power of rehab began at an early age when her beloved grandmother suffered a debilitating stroke. Nancy’s greatest professional satisfaction comes from mentoring the development of therapists and collaborating as a team with patients and families to ensure the greatest possible quality of life for all involved.

Nancy graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in psychology before completing her occupational therapy program at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She earned her Masters of Business Administration at the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina while working at Self Regional Healthcare in Greenwood, SC as an occupational therapist. She enjoyed her leadership positions in the rehabilitation department during her 19-year career there where she also gained experience in acute care, home health, outpatient therapy and work conditioning. She became certified in hand therapy by the Hand Therapy Certification Commission in 2000 and graduated from the Management Academy at the South Carolina Hospital Association in 2013.

Nancy relocated to Lexington in 2014 and worked at Lexington Medical Center as a manager in addition to an acute care and outpatient therapy provider. She started her own small business in Lexington, served as owner and operator eventually selling the business in 2021 after gaining valuable experience in the private sector.

Nancy and her husband, Michael, are residents of Lexington; enjoy travel, physical fitness and activities on Lake Murray; and have one adult son.

Tianna Pressley, Director of Pharmacy

Tianna has been a part of Ernest Health for the past two years. She has over 12 years of experience in field of pharmacy. She began her career journey as pharmacy technician while pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science at the University of South Carolina, which she completed in 2011. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from South University in 2015. She later earned a Master of Health Administration in 2021 from the University of South Carolina. She has experience in various pharmacy setting to include retail, hospital, and home infusion. When Tianna is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and traveling with friends.
